Why Choose Digital Painting?

Art is an attempt to express reality as it is felt in our times. I have chosen to work in Digital Painting because it is ideally suited to working through some of the major issues of contemporary existence, namely simultaneity, complexity, transparency and opacity, layering and their relation to Truth and Reality as we try to understand it.

Our lives today are swamped with an overload of "information" (data), in a complex layering through which we must sift in order to arrive at a notion of reality, culling nuggets of data which are themselves dispersed among layers, to assemble Truth. Digital Art can be the ideal medium for the exploration of our reality, constructed as the employed softwares are to provide layers, with the artist having exquisite control over opacity and transparency, and color.

In addition, Digital Painting softwares combine the mixing of light, (rather than pigment), which is projected back at the artist brilliantly from a screen, and later, rendered with amazing fidelity as ink on paper or canvas. The colors available through Digital Painting are expressive of contemporary reality in a way that would be difficult to match in other media.
